The transformation in customer needs challenges insurance companies. Simple digital products are not enough, but creative innovations are crucial. Daniel Litscher (Head of Business Innovation, Helvetia Insurance) presents the fundamentals of what drives digitalisation: new technologies, substitution products from competitors but most importantly a transformation in customer value and behaviour. Products and services are expected to be simpler, time-independent and more flexible. Helvetia uses design thinking as a creative approach to finding new solutions. It focuses on the interface between humans, business and technologies which results in innovative customer experience. Their first attempts were focusing too much on ideas originating from internal solutions like changing the price. But what really matters are the customers. For Helvetia, a mobile application makes no sense and Litscher introduces the smart sticker that offers a simple and fast way to report a claim by scanning a personalized QR-code.
